Earl Okin
A Special Intimate Solo Show With The Legend of Bossa Nova
The festival is delighted to welcome the amazing Earl Okin back to the Rye International Jazz and Blues Festival this year.
Earl Okin has been a legend in both the jazz clubs and comedy clubs of Britain for over 40 years.
Praised for his singing, his guitar and piano playing, his love of fine repertoire (and samba!), as well as his unique gift for poking gentle fun at the music (and himself) - Earl is a sell-out wherever he appears, and his 'mouth-trumpet' is the most unique sound in British jazz. Earl Okin is one of the world’s finest jazz singers.
In addition, he is probably the finest performer of Bossa Nova outside of Brazil.
Though occasionally performing with a trio, he normally performs solo, accompanying himself at the guitar or piano as most appropriate for the song. Finally, he’s renowned for his legendary ‘vocal trumpet’ solos.
To sum him up – the perfect sophisticated jazz vocal cabaret!
