Join us at the Devil Rye for our late night jazz sessions where you can relax and unwind listening to superb live music. There will be a fully licensed bar available and snacks to also enjoy with doors opening at 10.30pm and music until 1.00am.

On Saturday 24th August festival favourite Liane Carroll will perform the late night jazz session with Roger Carey.

Having been something of a stalwart of the British jazz scene for many years, Liane has in the last few years gone on to enjoy huge critical acclaim and is now considered by many to be one of the top jazz vocalists not just in the UK, but worldwide.

Her eagerly awaited second solo album, ‘Slow Down,’ was released last year and has received superb reviews. In December, the album was picked by the Sunday Times as one of their top five jazz albums of the year. She has enthralled audiences from New Zealand to Brazil and New York, equally at home in intimate jazz venues and vast arenas such as 2016 BBC Late Night Proms and Glastonbury 2017.

Multi-award-winning vocalist, Liane Carroll, started playing piano at the age of three and by 15 was already working also as a singer and composer. Her wide-ranging credits include: Gerry Rafferty, Jerry Donahue, London Elektricity, Long John Baldry, Charlie Haden, Jacqui Dankworth, Brian Kellock, Ian Shaw, Claire Martin and vocal groups BLINQ and a trio with Sara Colman and Sophie Bancroft.

Liane Carroll has been a pillar of the British jazz and soul scene for over thirty-five years and has amassed a multitude of awards over the years. Born in London and raised in Hastings; from the beginning of her musical career at the age of fifteen, she has dedicated her life to creating a deep and abiding connection with audiences all over the world through her exceptional talent, versatility and ability to truly interpret a song.

Along the way she has collaborated with such diverse artists as Paul McCartney, Gerry Rafferty, Long John Baldry, Ian Shaw, Claire Martin OBE and drum and bass outfit London Elektricity with whom she headlined in 2016 at Finsbury Parks Hospital in the Park festival. She appeared with them again at Glastonbury Festival 2017.

Liane is a great supporter of young and emerging artists and is much in demand by youth orchestras, ensembles and colleges for her inspirational approach to teaching. She runs regular workshops for aspiring vocalists at all levels of experience and teaches at the revered Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

The Devil in Rye is a new casual and relaxed dining restaurant concept by the Ambrette team.

Dev Biswal proudly presents a venue that serves hand - picked, fresh, produce from the local markets. The menu features fresh seafood, luscious green vegetables and superior quality meats.

The restaurant also serves homemade cakes, speciality teas and coffees and tasty snacks. A lot of thought is given to offer a healthy menu for children.

The service style is casual and the food is meant for feasting and sharing.

Food arrives as it is cooked and there is no regimented sequence for courses. Table reservations as well as walk in customers are accepted.

The restaurant boasts a large glass walled conservatory which overlooks our own fruit and herb kitchen garden at the foot of the famous historic 14th century Rye monastery.
