MACY GRAY AT THE De La Warr Pavilion

For lovers of Soul and Funk music the festival is delighted to present an exceptional afternoon & evening ‘Soul On A Sunday’ with highly acclaimed, multi award–winning American singer, songwriter and actress Macy Gray at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill on Sunday 20th June 2021.

Tickets will be available from the DLWP Box office in the near future and will be in high demand so we encourage you to book early.

Macy will be headlining the evening concert which will start at 8.00pm. Macy joins us on the Sussex coast after performing the evening before with Lionel Ritchie at Blenheim Palace.

To ensure that your Sunday gets off to a soulful and funky start our plans for ‘Soul On A Sunday’ include an afternoon of live outdoor music performances on the terrace at the De La Warr Pavilion featuring emerging and established music talent and DJ’s spinning the classiest tunes.

Macy has that unmistakable rasp, unshakable grasp on soul, and funky spirit that has ensured Macy her status as a 21st century icon since her arrival with the triple-platinum How Life Is in 1999. Selling over 25 million total albums globally, winning a GRAMMY® Award and two BRIT Awards, collaborating with everyone from Ariana Grande to Galactic, and enchanting fans all over the world, her voice has consistently resounded throughout pop culture. Hailing from Canton, Ohio, Macy remains an undeniable force of nature, selling out venues in nearly every corner of the globe two decades into her storied career.

Take the first single “Sugar Daddy.” Co-written with none other than pop superstar Meghan Trainor, the track swings from jazz-y piano into a cooing verse that’s as sweet as it is sassy. Her voice takes hold on the hook, “Be my, be my sugar daddy and provide me with your candy.”

Macy’s talents resound beyond music as well. She starred in Tyler Perry’s Black Reel Award-winning For Colored Girls and would grace the screen everywhere from Brotherly Love, Paper Boy, Lackawanna Blues and Cardboard Boxer to NETFLIX’s hit Fuller House. Moreover, she made a now legendary appearance in Training Day alongside Academy® Award winner Denzel Washington -one of many on-screen hallmarks.

Demand will be high for this event. Both standing and seated tickets available from the De La Warr Pavilion box office and standing tickets from Rye Jazz from 10am on Friday 4th September.
