December Concerts Delight Rye

Thank you to all those that attended our stunning December series of concerts at St Mary’s Church, Rye which we hope got you all into the Christmas spirit. We also extend our appreciation and gratitude to all of the superb artists that performed, Rick Wakeman, the LCGC, Mica Paris, Ian Shaw & Claire Martin, Tom Chaplin, our sponsors, advertisers, media partners, the ever helpful and lovely team at St Mary’s Church and the festival personnel who worked so incredibly hard… you are all stars.

We were delighted to have forged a very positive partnership with our chosen charity ‘Charity For Kids’ and thank you to all those that made donations at the concerts to this wonderful charity.

The amazing Tom Chaplin performed a stunning finale concert on Thursday 15th December with his immensely talented musicians to a full capacity audience of loyal fans. The concert was literally breath taking as Tom performed a superb mix of repertoire which enthralled us all which included songs from his highly acclaimed debut album ‘The Wave’, a selection of Keane hits and a stunning arrangement of White Christmas which seamlessly merged into Macca’s iconic bond classic ‘Live and Let Die’.

His distinctive and angelic vocals soared effortlessly as we were all enthralled by a truly wonderful concert that will be remembered by everyone for a very long time….thank you Tom for making an awful lot of people very happy.

The festival would like to thank WS Wright & Art Joinery & Glazing for sponsoring this truly memorable event.

A special thank you is extended to Tony Ham for all of the superb photographs.

The December series also included three other world class performances. We were honoured to present the legendary Rick Wakeman on Thursday 8th December who performed an eclectic and sublime programme on the piano which included many of his famous compositions including excerpts from his 1970’s album The Six Wives of Henry VIII. The evening was interspersed with Rick’s very personable and highly amusing stories and memories from his life in the music business and he also paid a moving and heartfelt tribute to his late friend David Bowie performing Life on Mars.

Thank you Rick for a wonderful performance and although you have not been knighted yet and should be, we most certainly refer to you as Sir. We would like to acknowledge and thank our sponsors of this concert, Stone Rock Dental Care and the Old Borough Arms.

The world renowned London Community Gospel Choir and UK Queen of Soul Mica Paris took St Mary’s Church by storm and lifted everyone’s spirits on Friday 9th December. Another sell out concert combined joyous harmonies, inspirational gospel classics and a selection of Christmas Hymns performed by a nine piece choir and a five piece band directed by the charismatic musical director Basil Mead.

We were delighted to welcome Mica Paris as a very special guest at this concert, and Mica performed a medley of funky soulful hits and her classic timeless 1980’s chart topping ‘My One Sensation’. Dancing in the isles was a must and we all got into the groove with an explosive concert.

A big thank you is extended to Future Climate Info who very kindly partnered and sponsored this fabulous concert.

Our ‘Jazz Special’ Christmas concert on Wednesday 14th December with Ian Shaw and Claire Martin was the perfect tonic for jazz lovers and a brilliant intimate performance that showcased the powerful combination of two of the most acclaimed and most respected British jazz singers.

Billed as Ian and Claire’s Xmas Cracker, which it most certainly was…. superbly delivered vocals, a lovely warm relaxed atmosphere and charm all combined to make a truly memorable evening of world class jazz, timeless classics and a lot of fun thrown in. Thank you Ian and Claire, it was a pleasure to have you perform such a unique show.

We thank our partners Beside the Sea Holidays and the Old Borough Arms for kindly partnering this event.

We are currently progressing with some very exciting plans to present a range of high quality concerts in 2017 with an eclectic array of artists, and we will keep you updated on all of these plans over the coming months.

It just leaves us to thank you for attending our events and we wish you a very happy Christmas, music, fun and happiness in 2017.
