In 2022 the Rye International Jazz & Blues Festival will be celebrating its tenth anniversary between 25 to 29 August. Great things come from small beginnings and time has certainly flown past since the very first inaugural festival in 2012.
Over years the festival has grown organically year on year, raising the bar higher whenever possible through the inclusion of wonderful music that inspires, motivates, and brings joy to so many.
We have already started early with the festival planning, and we can promise a hugely exciting programme of events to celebrate our special year. Our plans will include several World Class headline concerts with internationally acclaimed artistes across music genres that include Jazz, Blues, Roots, Soul, Funk, Cuban, Latin and much more.
The programme will also include music workshops and masterclasses, community engagement, free street performances, music at local venues, free and subsidised outdoor performances over three main days at a dedicated outdoor covered venue, a ‘Mardi Gras Procession’ with all the colour, vibrancy, music and fun that this will bring to the streets.
We will also be presenting a range of wellbeing events that include emerging singer songwriters, spoken word, jazz poetry, a historical project called ‘The Ring Shout’, Art and Photography. There will certainly be lots to enjoy and do so make sure that you save the festival dates and start planning your stay.
Rye offers a wonderful history, a wide selection of shopping, art galleries, wonderful accommodation and outstanding restaurants….there is so much to see and do!.
We will be making further announcements soon and be sure to join us in late August 2022.
In the meantime, stay safe, and thank you to all those that continue to support, attend, and partner our exceptional festival.
