2018 festival takes place from Friday 24th to Monday 27th August encompassing the August bank holiday weekend in the beautiful and historic town of Rye, East Sussex. This year we are extending our music programme into early September as we present two highly acclaimed concert-hall artists at the iconic De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea on 7th & 8th September.
The festival has a wonderful charm and a lovely intimate relaxed atmosphere where you can take the time to explore the fascinating history of Rye, browse the eclectic array of shops and have a superb meal at one of the many restaurants, hotels and local pubs.
Our exciting and varied festival programme this year includes world-class artists performing unique and intimate concerts and an extensive programme of free live music performances taking place from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th August on our outdoor music stage located within the heart of Rye at the Kino Cinema terrace and at the Butter Market located below the Georgian Town Hall in the centre of the Citadel.
You can expect the very best of local and regional talent who will be performing a varied and dynamic mix of music styles including Jazz, Blues, Roots, RnB, Soul, Cuban, Latin and Funk.
The atmosphere is amazing and the streets of Rye come alive with sounds and colours similar to that of New Orleans.
Bring the family or a get a group of friends together and make it a fabulous day out or stay over for the weekend in one of the many award winning hotels, B&B’s or even rent a cottage from our friends at Beside The Sea Holiday Cottages, or Bramley & Teal Holiday Cottages.
Confirmed headline artists include the incredible Tony Momrelle on Saturday 25th August. He’s one of the most exciting and significant Soul musicians on the modern British stage and he’ll be lighting up St Mary’s Church in a special afternoon headline concert on Saturday 25th August. The amazing Zara McFarlane on Saturday 25th August. Zara has been just been awarded the Jazz FM vocalist of the year 2018 to add to her growing collection of awards. Book to see Zara McFarlane
The festival proudly presents the highly acclaimed jazz singer and broadcaster Clare Teal in an afternoon headline concert at St Mary’s Church Rye on Sunday 26th August. She’ll perform music from the Great American Song Book to the witty and urbane stylists of the 50’s and 60’s jazz greats, with nods to contemporary writers and originals too! Book to see Clare Teal
The incredible jazz saxophonist and composer Courtney Pine performs his ground breaking show “The House of Legends” on Sunday 26th August. You can expect an exhilarating mix of Merengue, Ska, Mento and Calypso played through the lens of a UK born artist with strong Afro-Caribbean roots. Book to see Courtney Pine
After their much acclaimed sell out show at the festival last year Ronnie Scott’s are back with the blues this time! Ronnie Scott’s Blues Explosion Monday 27th August. The festival proudly presents a truly unique experience to see a legendary Joan Armatrading up close and personal on Monday 27th

We are thrilled to welcome Grammy Award-winning songstress and guitarist Corinne Bailey Rae to perform a special concert at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill - on Sea on Friday 7th September. Corinne will be performing her collection of hits such as Green Aphrodisiac, Put Your Records On and Like A Star as well as material from her breath taking new album The Heart Speaks In. On Saturday 8th September we proudly present the ‘Legendary’ Dionne Warwick in the first of her UK concert dates at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill – on Sea performing her vast array of hits, including Walk On By, Anyone Who Had A Heart and Heartbreaker.
