Drawn on the inspiration and success of the world famous Montreux Jazz Festival, and combined with the colours, hustle and bustle and vibrancy of New Orleans, The Rye International Jazz Festival will be an annual highlight in the South East events calendar for music lovers, day trippers and long weekenders.
The Rye International Jazz Festival will compliment and add diversity to the many successful events that take place in Rye each year. Our vision and ethos is to create a sustainable, inclusive and diverse festival that benefits the inhabitants, businesses and the wider community of Rye and the surrounding region.
Many of our planned festival activities will involve the collaboration of local arts groups, schools, the Rye College and the less privileged community areas of Rye. These initiatives will create opportunities for growth, confidence, inclusion and participation.
There are five core elements of the festival which include:
• Professional programme ticketed concerts
• FREE performances at many local venues
• Street Entertainment throughout Rye
• Educational Programme - music workshops
• Community Events - Mardi Gras street parade
The festival has one common goal, which is to attract and unite like-minded people to share and revel in the five days of jam packed with wonderful music and arts related activities. All of these events are designed to make a positive impact to the local economy and attract new audiences to Rye from far and wide.
Our modest programme for 2012 is all about having fun, relaxing and soaking up the wonderful atmosphere of Rye, whilst experiencing and listening to a diverse mix of musical styles and influences.
There are many wonderful venues throughout Rye that will play host to a selection of live music presentations. Stroll the cobbled streets of Rye, enjoy the wide choice of fantastic hotels, pubs and restaurants and explore the many shops within the High Street and side roads of the town.
